New season and what are we up to

October. It's October! How could we not remember to post a new blog post before? Oh, let me explain it to you. There was no time. It was simply no time. But here we are, updating this wonderful page full of information. I can already apologize in the beginning for this post being too long, but I can't help myself when I start writing. 

First question, What are we up to?

Yes, I totally understand people who are so curious about what's happening. Frankly, nothing is so unusual. Just the fact that only a few hundred people in Slovenia know that there is a sport called aesthetic gymnastics. The thing that is sad is that some people have already seen it, but they thought it was dancing or acrobatic gymnastics. Thank you so much! Because this is quite offensive.

In our case, we are dealing with this problem precisely when we try to expand AGG among people. Why? Slovenia is not a member of the International Federation of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics, and the International Federation of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics is not a member of the International Gymnastics Federation. Complicated, isn't it?

Now you know what you need to know for understanding this answer. Slovenian aesthetic group gymnastics is moving forward. Lastly, we met it internationally in 2010, when our coaches (gymnasts back then) under the name Zala appeared at the World Championship. How did it end? Excellent, they have achieved their goals. But who is interested in how they ranked? Nobody, because it wasn't their goal. Just like it is not our. So please stop wondering, why the hell are we doing this.

The thing that we also have to mention, that before 2010, Slovenia had already appeared at World Championships twice - I'm not sure, but I think it was in 2000 and 2003. Cool, isn't it? 

Now to the main thing, in early 2018 we started to think about participating at World Championships again. I mean, again for Slovenia, but for us girls, this would be the first time. Wondering again, what happened to our team? We fall apart, because only three girls decided for this road, three stopped training gymnastics and two girls stayed in RG Team. This is it, sadly.

Things started to move slowly, and at the end of May we had the first training together. There were also girls from other schools and cities, so there was more of us in the game for the team. The team was formed at the beginning of June and in the beginning of July we started with first trainings. These trainings (intentionally) lasted only one week, but during this time we managed to build the beginning of choreography.

Summer vacation was excellent for all because we knew that in the next 9 months we will not be able to afford it anymore. We started with flexibility exercises in the summer, so  we could return to the gym prepared. We received a 20-day program and we can not say that we have drastically improved, but we are satisfied with our progress. We started the new season in the last week of August.

As I mentioned, we were busy whole September. Not only that the school started and we all entered our third year of high school, but also the preparations for the 2019 World Championships began. Finally, it happened. But there are still things to do about which I could talk about all day. It is still our biggest problem to find sponsors, because as I said, aesthetic gymnastics is not even close to be recognized as a sport in our country.

It seems unwise for me to explain all the details from the very beginning because it is a long time to reach our goal and we want to tell you one thing. Our goal is not to achieve a good place because we are aware that after 8 years we can not expect anything and, of course, we don't. Our goal is to present our country in good light, to present our progress in long years of training and to be proud of ourselves.
